This coffee is a true love story. Gloria from Kenya and Jarmo from Finland found each other, bought a farm, and planted their first coffee tree in 2010. And thank goodness for that! Here is their washed Batian in all its glory. We tend to say, slightly cliché, that “coffee brings people together” - but it’s true. For Gloria and Jarmo, it grew into a coffee farm, and for us into Kompass Kafferosteri. So roll the dice and pour yourself a cup of Sakami Gloria - who knows where it might lead?
Tasting notes: Redcurrant, grapefruit, black tea
The story of Sakami began with Gloria from Kenya and Jarmo from Finland. Gloria spent many years working in the beauty industry, while Jarmo worked as an engineer across East Africa. When their paths crossed, it sparked not only a love story but also the idea of building something for the future. Together, they purchased a farm and planted their first coffee trees in 2010, with a strong focus on quality, sustainability, and long-term commitment.
On the farm, they actively practice agroforestry, where coffee grows alongside macadamia trees, avocado trees, and other native vegetation. They protect existing trees and wetlands, avoid the use of pesticides, and naturally replenish the soil through regenerative farming practices. During harvest season, the coffee cherries are hand-picked by women from the local community. The result is a coffee that not only tastes exceptional but is also produced with great respect for both nature and the people behind it.
